Georgia has been playing string instruments since she was nine years old. She began playing viola adding cello and violin over the years. She specializes in classical music and although she has experience in other genres her true passion is the classical music studies.
Throughout her career she participated in her school orchestras at Manchester Elementary, North Carroll Middle and North Carroll High. At North Carroll High she traveled and competed in the Disney Festival Competition where her orchestra placed first in the competition. She participated in All County Orchestra for six years sitting principal violist her senior year of high school. She participated in the Carroll County Solo and Ensemble Festival for seven years going on to the State level for six. She received, at the state level, several Superior Ratings for solo performances and several Excellent Ratings for small ensemble and duet performances. Her senior year of high school, 2007, Georgia completed her student teaching at North Carroll Middle School under the direction of Mike Hirsh where she worked individually with the string members and the orchestra and band as a whole.
Outside of the school system Georgia participated in the Encore Community Orchestra in her middle school years and was asked to perform in the Advanced Strings Small Ensemble within the program. She participated in the Encore Summer Music Camp in 2002 where she studied clarinet, percussion and theory classes. She mentored at the Encore Summer Camp the next year, 2003, assisting in the learning of the younger performers. In 2005 she participated briefly in the McDaniel College Orchestra. Georgia performed with the Greater Baltimore Youth Orchestra Concert Strings from 2003 to 2005 where she toured in Orlando's Universal Studios. Georgia performed with the Westminster Symphony Orchestra for the 2012 - 2013 season in both the viola and cello sections, sitting principal viola. Currently, Georgia performs with both the Hanover Symphony Orchestra in both the violin and viola sections and the Hunt Valley Symphony Orchestra in the viola section.
Georgia has performed in various well - known places such as Disney World and Universal Studios, both located in Florida, and the Myerhoff Symphony Orchestra Hall, home of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra located in Baltimore, Maryland. She has also performed at smaller locations such as the Eichelberger Performing Arts Center, Carroll Community College Theater, the Manchester Town Hall and several Nursing Homes throughout the community.
She has worked with Concert Master and professional violinist, violist and conductor, Johnathan Carney and Luke Zacherl of the band NOMaD. She has studied under Alice Tung of McDaniel College, Sherrie Norwitz of Towson University and Erika Adam of Coffey Music located in Westminster, Maryland. Georgia also has a background in psychology (Towson University) with a specialization in children allowing for a more individualized approach.
Georgia started teaching in 2007 with a single viola student and has grown her studio into a small family of students. She has since ventured into small ensembles, orchestras, and technique and scales classes. In the school year 2009 - 2010 Georgia volunteered at North Carroll Middle school, working with the orchestra classes throughout the year. She has also volunteered at Ebb Valley Elementary School and Manchester Elementary School with Kim Rees. Georgia was named "March Teacher Of The Month" in 2014 from Menchey Music in Westminster.
Georgia is currently looking for a new studio near the Littlestown / Hanover, PA area. More details will be added as she progresses in this endeavor.
